Ali Howard and Cam Sabin here, two 4th graders at Williamstown Elementary in Williamstown, MA. Here's what we've found out about our "green school":
-low VOC paint on the walls
-the low VOC paint on walls makes no chemicals in the air
-recycle paper, when the school started recycling we cut down alot on the amount of trash that got sent out to the dump
-also recycle cardboard
-floors made from recycled matieral, so they can be recycled when we are done with them
- compost, that also cuts down our trash
-at lunch when the kids throw out their food, a truck takes it to a place called Holiday Farm where they feed it to the pigs
-the roof is super in salated
-energy ificant windows
-PV panels for the roof
-energy from the sun for electricity
-a lot of windows so no lights needed on sunny days
-fluorescent lights
